Letter Writing Ebbs and Flows

I have been a letter writer for over 50 years and I’ve seen the ebbing and flowing of this hobby throughout my life. Changes in life sometimes opens up the path to letter writing, while at other times they close it down. Moving, starting a new job, going back to school, starting a family, heartbreak or a sudden illness can affect all of our habits, including letter writing.

Currently, I’m going through one of these and my letter writing is minimal so I’ve limited my writing to a couple of longtime correspondents who understand when I stop writing for a month or two and are very patient. I met some wonderful people through InCoWriMo 2021 and was enjoying learning more about these people from all over the world. But it does cause a small amount of stress to have a pile of letters sit unanswered for long stretches of time.

One by one I’m letting them know what’s going on and why I’ll need to take a break.

The cycle of life: Giving/Taking. Breathing in/Breathing out. Up/Down. Fast/Slow. Yin/Yang. Resting/Doing.
