As promised, here are the 4 pieces of mail art I made last weekend. I have found I like to keep things fairly symmetrical. I guess that’s what works for me. Looking forward to some free time so that I can do some more of these again (one day).

I used clear decoupage finish on a couple of them (the bottom two). I used the finish as a glue and also as a  topcoat.  The top two cards I used a regular glue stick. I recycled heavier weight cards to be used as postcards as the base for all of them.

    These look great, Jackie!

What do you use to make them? Do you cut out of magazines etc or do you print images off from your computer? I'm currently getting into mail art so I'm looking for any ideas as to where to get images from. Also, is there a certain type of envelope you use that is best to glue onto, or do you make ones specially to use?

Symmetry is good, btw. The pieces of mail I've decorated so far have been symmetrical – it just seemed the natural way to do it.

I'd be thrilled if something like this came through my door (of course, though, any mail is good, except bills. Don't like those!)

    Hello Es,
I use scraps from everywhere- newspaper, mags, junk mail, old cereal boxes, used stamps. I tend to save a LOT of paper and then I just go through that.

I don't always send these in envelopes as I can write on the backs of them by gluing white paper if they don't have clear backs already. But I do buy assortments of envelopes at garage sales and clearance sales. I also sometimes make my own envelopes using large calendar pages.

Hi Jackie. Good luck with the magazine launch. I just found you through the "A Penchant for Paper" blog. I'm new to the Pen world and just started a blog. Just trying to present the best information I can find and learn about. Starting with pens and will get to stationary soon enough. You're in my bookmarks now. Scott
