I hadn’t planned to get the World’s Greatest Bookstores: 100 Postcards Celebrating the Most Beloved Bookshops as I have so many postcards already. But when the set of 100 postcards went on sale for $10, how could I resist? Apparently, I couldn’t and now I am sending out more postcards than ever to justify my excess collection of postcards.

picture of the box set of 100 bookstore postcardsPreviously, I had purchased the book (Footnotes from the World’s Greatest Bookstores) which is “… a collection of paintings and stories from some of the world’s most cherished bookstores” as created by Bob Eckstein. This book is so rich visually that I tend to limit my time to just a few chapters at one sitting. This book is something I know I will revisit from time to time, especially as I travel to more of the bookstores featured in here.

Included in the book as well as the postcard set, is one of my favorite bookstores in St Paul, Minn. This is Garrison Keillor’s Common Good Books, which was recently sold (2019) to a new owner and was renamed Next Chapter Booksellers. The store is located at 38 Snelling Ave S. in St Paul.

How about you? What is your favorite bookstore? Where is it located and why is it your favorite?
