The Mailbox Contest
Like magic portals, the mailbox takes your mail and transports it to intended recipients all over the world! I recently got a new PO Box and am anxious to get mail in it, so I’m offering a contest to do just that. Pictured below, PO Box 120052 is not quite as charming as some of the indoor or outdoor mailboxes I’ve seen, but still magical when you consider what appears inside.
Skip to the end of this post to read the contest prizes and entry instructions.
For that magical touch, there is nothing more magical than a visit to Disneyland. I saw this mailbox on my visit in 2010. What made this mailbox even more memorable, is that I had postcards and stamps with me so that I could stop to dash off a few postcards and send them on their way right from this very spot.
The picture below is from our visit to Cornwall in 2002 and is the Old Post Office in Tintagel, England. Tintagel is the legendary birthplace of King Arthur and a magical landscape in its own right on the Cornish coast. Unfortunately, the PO was closed on our visit so we didn’t get to go inside. I guess it’s a reason to go back.
This dolphin mailbox was spotted on a recent trip to Florida.
Saw this at the Minnesota State Fair 2011.
Found this one on a golf course.
St. Paul in the winter of 2011
Purchased at a garage sale for $1.
Recently, I’ve seen other bloggers share their Post Office or mailbox experience, such as Write On in Yes, Virginia, There is a Post Office.
A Beautiful Post Office by Cappuccino and Art Journal offers many photos in her blog about this post office in Palo Alto, CA. I especially love the close-ups of the individual PO boxes with the old combination turn dials used to open the little doors.
Some of you may recall my three-part blog series on our visit to the National Postal Museum in 2010.
