Getting a handwritten letter in the mail has always been a treat. But there is something extra special when the letter comes in a unique and creative format such as the ones in the pictures below. I can’t always think of new and creative ways to enhance the letter writing experience, but I can sure be inspired by watching others do it.
Airmail Envelope Letter
First, we have the airmail letter from Annie in San Francisco, which is a city that seems to be home to more than its fair share of mail artists. Annie used an airmail envelope folded in half and stitched with matching blue and white string. The used stamps add a genuine touch to the envelope-themed stationery as done the stamped words ‘Air Mail‘ and ‘Please Hand Cancel‘.
Annie added some lined pages that she further decorated with stamps and stickers as you can see in the picture below.
And the back of the book she left blank, leaving the envelope itself to make a statement.
Tag Letter
In another letter from Annie, she used blank tags to compose her epistle. Again, she used postage stamps to help enhance some of the pages of the letter. On the front and back pages she used rubber stamps to start her letter and to end her letter.
Not every page had a stamp. Some pages were just writing- the essence of the letter.
I apologize for the inconsistency of the photographic quality. I am still experimenting with my camera and the lighting in my office.
Postcard Letter
Below is a letter made of up three postcards connected with what looks to be bits colored masking tape that holds them together. The tape is used to create hinges. Very clever! And don’t you love the images on these postcards?
The cards can be folded to display 1 pane, 2 panes or all 3 panes. They can show the 3 faces of the postcard or the 3 sides with the letter writing. Or one of each as shown below.
